Forty-four-year-old Purtle Electrical is a family-owned business based in Yarrawonga, NSW, Australia.
With simPRO in place, and Tom Purtle completely off the tools, the way the business operates now compared to its early days is like comparing ‘chalk and cheese’.
The business is made up of ‘Possum’ (Tom’s father and owner of the business), his three sons, and a field of experienced electricians, apprentices and office staff.
A clear vision of productivity and profits
This year, Tom realised he needed to bite the bullet – it was time to get off the tools and dedicate his time to simPRO to fully take control of the business.
Tom now has full visibility across staff productivity as well as which jobs are giving the best return.
Getting off the tools
It’s not been easy to let go of the tools. Tom was once hands-on and central to the management of jobs in the field. Now, he’s central to the success of managing the business as a whole, dedicating more time instead to working on the business.
The implementation of simPRO came about because Tom and his team knew there was a better way to work. It wasn’t until Tom begun dedicating much more time to the software that they fully realised how much better things could be.
And, like anything, the more time he’s spent getting to know the full functionality of the software, the more he and business benefits.
“Bigger tenders were taking me a couple of days, now it only takes me a couple of hours.”
It’s exciting to see businesses who have been around for a while suddenly discover this new level of clarity.
